Find out if your ISP is doing transparent DNS proxy

    1. Enable Smart DNS on your PC / Mac using the SmartyDNS app or by setting up Smart DNS manually.You can find tutorials on how to do that on our Support page.
    2. For Windows: press the Windows Key + R and type cmd, then press Enter to start the Command Prompt.For macOS: go to Utilities and open the Terminal.
    3. In the opened Command Prompt / Terminal type:
      nslookup ip.smartydns.com

      You should get a reply like this (depending of DNS country you have selected it can look slightly different):

    4. If you see in your result at “Address:” (1) an IP address other than “136.243.3.103”, go to step 4 of this tutorial.

      If you see the result as “136.243.3.103” then you have no problems using our DNS servers.

    5. In the opened Command Prompt / Terminal type:
      nslookup ip.smartydns.com 87.117.205.40

      You should get as a reply something like this:

      If you see in your result at “Address:” (2) an IP address other than “136.243.3.103” then your Internet Service Provider is doing Transparent DNS Proxy.
